| CD Notes: There never is enough space on a CD cover to say all the things an artist would like to say. That being the case, I decided to use this “cyberspace” to thank those people who helped with the project and give everyone a little insight into how the songs on the CD found their way there. God has blessed me with the greatest family in the universe. Brothers Lloyd, Steve, Donnie, sister La Tronda and sons Brian and Jeremy were always ready and willing to help. I began this project, wanting to create a recording that would bear my individual signature as a singer and songwriter. As the songs came together, I found myself returning more and more of that “Maines Family” musical flavor. That is what I know and that is the way it should and will be. Donnie would drop what he was doing and drive over to record a needed percussion overdub. Steve and La Tronda added harmony vocals and encouragement when I needed it the most. Lloyd set aside three days in Austin to “work his magic” (however, I did have to provide pork skins, bait and beer for the final afternoon fishing trip). Brian and Jeremy not only played on the project, they continue to be my spiritual and creative inspiration. There is no greater feeling than hearing your kids tell their friends about “Dad’s awesome CD”!My favorite fiddler happens to be my musical brother, Richard Bowden. Richard has been with the Maines Brothers Band for over 25 years and continues to ignite a fire on stage and in the studio. Richard drove to Lubbock from Austin and spent two days helping to bring these songs to life. I was also fortunate to have the help of three other West Texas musicians, Doug Smith on piano, John Sprott on guitar and the incredible voice of Lesley Sawyer. These musicians have the unique ability to transfer raw energy into digital information. Lesley can make any singer sound better and this project was no exception. When I listen to Doug and John’s work on “In The Same Business”, I feel as though I’m watching the show from the edge of the stage. Finally, this CD would have remained a figment of my imagination, if not for the incredible engineering talents of Alan Crossland at Route 1 Acuff Studios and Wally and Swade Moyers with Studio 84. Thanks to everyone for your talent, help and encouragement. I love you all! Kenny Maines |
